When transport and weighing come together

When transport and weighing come together

In warehousing, production and logistics, time losses often do not arise from individual large work steps, but from many small interruptions. A pallet is moved, taken to the scale, weighed, documented and then transported onwards.

What may sound like little effort in an individual case is repeated many times in day-to-day operations. This creates additional routes, waiting times and manual steps that tie up employees and unnecessarily prolong processes. Especially in companies where palletised goods are moved and weighed regularly, it is therefore worth taking a closer look at the workflow: Does weighing necessarily have to take place in a separate location? Or can this step be meaningfully integrated into the material flow?

Our experience shows that the greatest potential often does not lie in completely new processes, but in small, targeted improvements to existing workflows. This is exactly where mobile weighing technology comes in. It brings weight recording to the point where the load is already being moved. As a result, weighing is no longer perceived as an additional work step, but as part of the ongoing process.

A current example of this is the TPW “E-FORCE” from DINI ARGEO. This weighing pallet truck combines an electric drive with integrated weighing technology and makes it possible to weigh loads directly during internal transport. With a load capacity of up to 1,250 kg and a 100 g resolution, it is suitable for numerous applications in warehousing, production, goods receiving, order picking and dispatch.

The electric drive assists employees when moving heavy loads. This can noticeably ease day-to-day work, especially where transport operations are frequent, distances are longer or space is limited. At the same time, the weight data is available exactly where it is needed – without having to take a detour via a stationary scale.

The benefits quickly become apparent in day-to-day operations:

  • Fewer transport routes and less time required
  • Faster weight recording directly at the point of use
  • Reduced manual effort
  • Greater process reliability and data integrity
  • Improved ergonomics for employees
  • Optimised material flow throughout the entire operation

What matters here is not the technology alone, but its benefit within the specific process. A mobile weighing solution makes sense when it simplifies existing workflows and fits reliably into day-to-day operations. That is why at ZIMMERLI MESSTECHNIK AG, we do not only look at individual products, but always at the application behind them: What loads are being moved? How often is weighing carried out? Where is the weight data needed? What level of accuracy is required? And should the scale be used for internal purposes or for legally regulated applications?

These questions can rarely be answered in general terms. Every company has different workflows, spatial conditions and requirements regarding documentation, accuracy and operation. This is precisely why careful clarification is important – so that, in the end, it is not simply a device that is put into use, but a solution that fits day-to-day operations.

The TPW “E-FORCE” adds an interesting option to our range of weighing solutions for companies looking to combine transport and weight recording more efficiently. It clearly demonstrates what modern weighing technology is often about: not adding technology for technology’s sake, but providing solutions that make processes simpler, safer and more traceable.

Whether in goods receiving, production, warehousing or dispatch – wherever pallets are moved and weight data is required at the same time, mobile weighing can create real added value.
